After-School Programs
Positive Programs Services Inc. has operated as a business since 1994. As of March 12, 1999 the Internal Revenue Service determined that PPSI was exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in section 501(c) (3). From 1995 to 2000 our primary emphasis was producing unique and innovative assembly and concert programs such as Generation X. After many inquiries about how students could gain the training that Generation X cast members received through their involvement with Positive Programs it became clear that that an after school program emphasizing the arts should be offered. During the 2000-2001 school year The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe Charitable Fund provided a grant to PPSI for a pilot project. Assemblies were performed for over 4000 students at Auburn High School, Olympic Junior High School, Chinook and Gildo Rey Elementary Schools. After- school classes were then conducted at Olympic Junior High, Auburn Senior High and Chinook Elementary. The after school program included classes on voice, dance, drama, public speaking and leadership skills. A culminating performance featuring all of the students that participated/completed this project. It has been seven years since our introductory project
began and we have served over 1000 Native American and "at risk" students with
our after school programs offered in the Auburn School District. We would like
to thank the Auburn School District, WalMart and the Muckleshoot Tribe for their
support. |
