Calling all singers, dancers and musicians! Don’t miss your chance to “Do the Puyallup” and be a star! The Puyallup Fair has partnered with Positive Programs to bring you the Catch a Rising Star Talent Competition. Solos, duos, trios and groups ages 5 through adult can enter for a chance to win $1000 in prizes in this fantastic competition! Professional judges will choose from two semi final competitions held at the ShowPlace Stage at the Puyallup Fair from 7:00-9:00 PM on Thursday September 22 and Friday September 23, 2011. Finalists will compete on the ShowPlace stage on Saturday September 24, 2011 from 7:00-9:00. Age categories include 5-11, 12-17, and 18 and up.

Rules and Requirements for Participation

This competition is for amateur dancers, singers, and musicians. Judges decisions are final. All acts for semi-finals and finals must not exceed 2 minutes 30 seconds in length. Please edit your music to meet the time requirement for this competition. Acts using background tracks should have only one song per act/per CD. We prefer not to play IPODs or other electronic or digital music players. Acapella presentations are allowed. All background tracks for singers must not have a lead vocal. Background vocals are allowed on background tracks. Acoustic music groups are welcome to compete. We cannot accommodate bands or groups requiring set up time exceeding two minutes.

Performers that pre-register will receive a single ticket per each performer to enter the fair on their assigned semi-finals day. Walk up entries for the semi-finals are welcome, but will be offered the opportunity to register on a first come first serve basis as space permits. Performers chosen as a finalist will receive a single ticket per each performer to enter the fair to compete in the finals. Minors must be accompanied by an adult to semi-finals and finals. Chaperones escorting minors to the semi-finals or finals will receive a ticket to the fair.

This competition is not open to employees of The Fair and Positive Programs.

All performances, including music, type of dance, and attire/costumes in the Catch A Rising Star Competition must be family friendly. Any presentation that does not meet the family friendly standard will be disqualified. No refund of registration fee will be offered to individuals or groups that are disqualified.

The Puyallup Fair, Positive Programs and all other sponsors or partners of the Catch A Rising Star Talent Competition do not take responsibility for lost or stolen articles including personal items. All performers participate at their own risk.
